What We Believe
The following list represents what we believe. Come and ask if you have any questions about anything.
What we believe:
1. The Bible
The full and verbal inspiration of all the Old Testament and New Testament Scriptures as originally given; their being in themselves the Word of God, without error, and fully reliable in both fact and doctrine; their final authority and perpetual sufficiency in all matters of faith and practice.
The unity of the Godhead and the divine co-equality of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; the sovereignty of God in creation, providence and redemption.
3. The Human Race
The Creation of Man in the image of God, his sin and fall, the consequence passing to all humanity, extending to every part of human nature and resulting in the universal guilt of mankind before God.
The personality of Satan, his opposition to God and His purposes, and his corruption and enslavement of man.
5. The Person of Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ as true God and true Man; His deity, incarnation, virgin birth and sinless life; the divine authority and inerrancy of all His teaching and utterances.
6. The Work of Jesus Christ
The work of the Lord Jesus Christ in His life, death, and resurrection as Representative and Substitute; His atonement for sin, thereby securing righteousness, forgiveness and eternal life for all the elect of God; His bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven and priestly intercession for His people at the right hand of the Father.
7. The Holy Spirit
The work of the Holy Spirit as essential for a true and spiritual understanding of the Scriptures; for regeneration, the exercise of repentance and saving faith, and for sanctification, as well as for ministry and worship.
Salvation as solely by the grace of God, accomplished by God the Son and applied by God the Holy Spirit, appropriated by God-given faith through which alone the sinner is justified.
9. The Church
The universal Church, the Body, of which Christ is Head, embracing all the redeemed, called by God through the gospel, born of the Holy Spirit, and justified by faith; the local Church, comprising such believers, as the expression of the universal Church; and fellowship between such churches, manifesting the unity of the body of Christ.
10. The Ordinances
The ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper as being instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism by immersion as an identification with the Lord Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, the only proper subjects for it being those who profess repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord’s Supper as a commemoration of His death, but not being a sacrifice for sin and not involving any change in substance of the bread and the wine.
The final perseverance of the saints.
12. The Return of Jesus
The personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory.
13. The Final Judgement
The resurrection of the body; the judgement of the world by the Lord Jesus Christ, with the eternal blessedness of the just and the eternal punishment of the unjust.
